SUMMER 2022 RESIDENCE CHRISTINE LAQUET

ONE LINK, ONE VISIBLE

In Resonance with the Lyon Biennale. GAC art center / Residency at the Marc Seguin Foundation for Innovation, Annonay.

The multifaceted works of Christine Laquet unfold in an imagination of multiple scales and ramifications which crisscross the depths of the ground as much as the sky. The artist thus envisages possible futures by broadening our sensibilities by focusing on the dimensions of the geo-, the bio- and the exo- and by creating a link with the non-human. It is inspired by the Ardèche environment that Christine Laquet focuses on contemporary changes and her works here borrow as much from the natural space as from the inventions and particularities of this territory, from the 19th century to the present day. Cradle of numerous inventions – of which Marc Seguin was a leader – Annonay remained for a long time the capital of paper manufacturing. The first installationLa Salle de l’Observatoireembodies this industrial memory, at the same time as it links artistic creation itself to environmental transformations; the artist offers a space where scientific observations and aesthetic contemplations participate in the metamorphoses of which we are the actors. Laquet changes perspectives and imagines a space where a Conversation with wild herbs is possible. It shows us what we do not see or no longer see, of our near and distant environment.

SUMMER 2022: MARGUERITE’S VISITS

Marguerite and her cousin Narcisse, a gentleman with a cheerful heart and multiple musical talents, will enthusiastically guide you through 5 tours, including the Domaine de Varagnes in Annonay!

Through the incredible story of Marc Seguin, a true precursor of the industrial revolution, Marguerite and Narcisse will show you the Domaine de Varagnes. His many inventions and innovations contributed to the progress of transportation and science.

MARC LATHUILLIERE

MATER

Marc Lathuillière
+ agnès desolneux

Applied to organic agriculture, can artificial intelligence really repair our relationship with the earth? This is the question posed by Mater, a project led by the artist Marc Lathuillière in collaboration with the mathematician Agnès Desolneux. It is inspired by the permaculture robots of the Dutch company Pixel Farming Robotics, which learn to cultivate different associated plants in checkerboard fields imitating the pixels of digital images. At the crossroads of agro-ecology and mathematics, Mater consists of evolving portraits of farmers photographed by Marc Lathuillière in Ardèche and the Netherlands, altering their pixel pattern using algorithms designed with Agnès Desolneux, specialist of image processing at ENS Paris-Saclay.
The exhibition at the GAC is in dialogue with a conference in Varagnes, where the Association of Friends of the Seguin Foundation welcomed the two creators in residence. He is a beneficiary of the 2020 Innovation scholarship from Diagonale ENS and Université Paris-Saclay.

SEPTEMBER 2021 – HERITAGE DAYS

The national theme of the 2021 edition chosen by the Ministry of Culture was “Heritage for all: together, let’s make heritage live! ”.

ENDOREÏA - FRANÇOIS DEHOUX

Endoreïa is the laboratory of alchemy.

She experiments with a connection between the four fundamental elements and men, in a common story between science and spirituality.

Interactions between water, earth, fire, air and man are thus explored within a sculpture which takes the form of a construction. It brings together several devices which each summon an element, all being connected and activated by means of a circular watercourse.

SEPTEMBER 2017 - MAD EXHIBITION

Stéphanie Henry-Seguin – Mad

“THE MERCHANT OF VENICE” invites Stéphanie Henry-Seguin, glass artist, to present her latest creation “MAD” on the occasion of the 1st edition of “Venice Glass Week”.

“THE MERCHANT OF VENICE” invites Stéphanie Henry-Seguin, French glass designer, to present one of her latest creation: “MAD” at their flagship store in Campo San Fantin, next to the Gran Teatro La Fenice, upon the occasion of the 1st event of “The Venice Glass Week”.

Stéphanie Henry-Seguin came to Le Verre by different paths. Constantly inspired by different materials and their capacity for metamorphosis into unique creations, she has explored several worlds: fashion, photography, cinema, mosaic and then Glass, with combined passion and creative talent.

The Installation

“MAD” consists of three glass cones wrapped into a blue glass spiral, set over a broken mirror. The spiral is reflected over and over inside the cone, hypnotizing the viewer and immersing him into an other world that it be inside himself or somewhere “behind the mirror”. This creation forces to experiment individually the reflexion of madness, the limits of reason. The cones are referring to the chess piece called “Jester”, being the clown, “il Buffone ”, “Le Fou du Roi” the one being so free that he can cross our world diagonally, from edge to edge, from reality to madness, surfing on Irony.Presentation of the piece presented : “MAD” Stéphanie Henry-Seguin : Approximate work dimensions: each pieces H 35 cm / l 16 cm.
